- Background, qualifications and current work of Dr. Jose Gonzalez-Rodriguez.
Dr. Gonzalez-Rodriguez holds both degrees in Chemistry and Biochemistry and a Master degree in Environmental Sciences. His PhD is in Analytical Chemistry and has developed research in this area for more than 19 years. Dr Gonzalez has published 66 publications and 40 communications to congresses up to date and has attracted funds over 3.5 million pounds to date over this period. He is currently the programme leader of the Masters in Forensic Science of the University of Lincoln. He has experience in running and teaching joint modules with other international Universities and a wide network of scientific collaborators.
Jose has also refereed more than 200 papers for international journals and has acted as evaluator and reviewer for different research bodies in Europe with more than 310 evaluations of scientific proposals to date for different national and international bodies. The latter includes reviewer and evaluator roles for the EU since 2009 (Secure Societies FP-7 and H2020, Marie Curie Programmes (IEF and ITN) having acted as vice chair and panel member in numerous occasions. He is an active reviewer for the Portuguese research agency (FCT) and the Academy of Finland, acting as Chair of the Chemistry panel in 2021. He is an active member of the EPSRC College or Reviewers. Currently he is supervisor of four PhDs students and two Master by Research. Recent public engagement includes written evidence to the UK Science, Research and Technology Capability and Influence in Global Disease Outbreaks Parliamentary Committee in 2020 and participation on the COVID-19 outbreak expert survey and the House of Lords’ report on Life beyond COVID-19: What are experts concerned about?
